Johnnie Walker in new move to dominate Nigerian spirit market

Every indication suggests that Johnnie Walker, registered in Nigeria in 1919, is excited about Nigerian market. The brand with multi variants for different consumers is deepening its presence in Nigeria and strengthening its consumer relationship.
Nigeria, which has become a cynosure for foreign investors, is experiencing growing middle class as many investors see a great opportunity in Nigeria and rest of African continent, as most exciting region in the world.
Johnnie Walker brand handler recently walked into Nigerian market with Gold Label Reserve variety. This is in addition to other variants of the product existing in the market such as Platinum Label, Red Label, Blue Label, Black Label.
Crafted by Johnnie Walker master blender Jim Beverage as homage to the craft of blending, the Gold Label Reserve is said to combine a selection of handpicked, premier whiskies to create a bold blend of intense flavours, which is every bit as luxurious and indulgent as its name suggests.
Felix Enwemadu, general manager, Diageo Brands Nigeria, said at the introduction of the new brand that “we are excited to introduce Nigeria to Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve – a whiskey that turns special moments into legendary occasions. This whiskey appeals to a stylish, discerning set, who enjoys celebrating life’s milestones. Our Golden Reserve is the ultimate toast to Nigeria’s celebratory spirit: a bold, smooth and complex blend.”
The ‘Gold’ in the whiskey’s name refers not only to the hue of the drink, but to the prosperous history of the blend’s malt supplier. The Clynelish Distillery’s water source flows from the Kildonan hills, where gold deposits were discovered in the 19th Century, meaning that gold is at the source of this premier whiskey.
“Gold is more than just a colour – it is a testament to success and a reason to celebrate. Our iconic blend is set to be a great triumph in the Nigerian market, where a premium, international spirit was needed,” Enwemadu said.
Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve in 70cl and one litre bottles is part of the super deluxe range of Johnnie Walker whiskies, and marks the continued evolution of the brand. The entrance into the Nigerian market provides consumers with a compelling option when it comes to choosing a celebratory drink.
The all-night event was indeed a celebration as top celebrities such as Wande Coal, D’Prince, Kcee and others, performed to celebrate the new brand. The event was a delight and a great celebration as guests were served Gold label reserve cocktails.
The high point of the event was the spectacular pyrotechnic unveil of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve. Guests partied until the break of dawn and celebrated the launch of the luxurious and decadent whiskey that mixes well and is perfect for enjoying at times of celebration, for ‘golden moment.
A Diageo boss, Ivan Menezes has in a report said to have thrown his weight behind the expansion of the Scotch whisky market. The chief executive hailed the success of the firm’s marketing campaigns and “innovation,” such as the launches of Johnnie Walker Platinum Label and Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve, and pledged that such investment would continue.
“This has been a key driver of our performance in Scotch, our biggest and most-profitable category, especially for Johnnie Walker,” said Menezes, who took over at the start of last month from long-serving incumbent Paul Walsh, group boss for 13 years.@smoothmedia1
