Earlier this week, Timbaland made a
negative comment on Chris Brown and
Drake’s collaborations with Aaliyah. In an
interview, the 41-year-old rapper said that no one else but him could work with the late songstress. “People always say, ‘I’m going to do a song with Aaliyah.’ It will never work,” he said in the interview. “Chris Brown got a record, it won’t work. Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it ain’t gonna work. ‘Cause Aaliyah music only
work with its soulmate, which is me.” Now, Timbaland has expressed his apology to Brown in a series of Twitter posts. “I want 2 publicly apologize 2 my lil homie @chrisbrown 4 my statements on revolt regarding the Aaliyah collaborations,” he tweeted on Friday, July 26. “I actually like the song wit him n Aaliyah, it’s just when you are talking about babygirl its a very sensitive subject with me. So the people
who not only worked with her but grew a bond so tight we are like family so im very over protective over her,” he continued.
He went on saying, “I have mad luv 4 my dude Chris Brown. A mother lost a daughter. A brother lost a sister. That is still grieving over her passing, it just a very sensitive subject. I just want the family to be respected.”
Aaliyah died in a 2001 plane crash after a music video shoot. Timbaland had collaborated with her in some of her singles, including “Are You That Somebody”, “Try Again” and “We Need a Resolution”
