NEWS:SYRIAN ARAB ARMY FULL RETAKE KHALDIYEH IN HOMS

SYRIAN ARAB ARMY FULL RETAKE KHALDIYEH IN HOMS

According to Syria’s official news agency, SANA, government forces pushed militants out of Khaldiyeh on Monday and restored security and stability to the neighbourhood.

The army says it has defused dozens of explosive devises planted by militants in residential buildings and on roads after capturing the district, that was a key militant stronghold in the restive city of Homs.

Syrian forces also repelled a terrorist attack on the National Hospital in the Homs countryside, killing scores of militants.

Earlier on Monday, Syrian army recaptured a key base held by militants fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad in Homs.

The army directed much of its focus toward volatile areas in Homs, including Khaldiyeh, after retaking the strategic town of Qusayr near Lebanon's border last month.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011.

According to the reports, the West and its regional allies-- Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on July 25 that more than 100,000 people have been killed in Syria since the outbreak of foreign-sponsored militancy in the country. Millions of others have been also displaced in the violence. — with Jesse Maynard
